NorthCoast 99 Celebrates 10th Anniversary
Honoring Great Workplaces
Cleveland – ERC is proud to announce that applications are now being accepted for the 2008 NorthCoast 99 Award, which recognizes 99 of Northeast Ohio’s best workplaces. The program is celebrating its tenth year of honoring organizations that attract and retain top talent in our region utilizing innovative workplace practices and programs. Employers can apply for the honor until Friday, May 2 nd, 2008. There is no cost to complete the application, which can be completed online at www.northcoast99.org/application. Winners will be announced in September 2008.
Recognized recently by CBC TM Magazine as the Best Human Resources Event in Northeast Ohio, NorthCoast 99 celebrates an employer’s ability to support the attraction, retention, and motivation of top performing employees. Employers throughout the region use the recognition to brand/market their organization as an employer of choice, which gives them a competitive advantage in recruiting top performers from a shrinking talent pool.
Employers also use the application as an affirmation that their organizational HR systems, programs and practices are aligned with the attraction and retention of top performers. The application evaluates an organization’s workplace practices and programs in the areas of Compensation, Benefits, Communication, Service & Social Responsibility, Recruitment & Selection, Training & Development, Workforce Planning, and Workplace Health & Safety. Following the recognition of the winners in September, all applicants receive a complimentary benchmark report that highlights important insights into their organization’s HR practices.
“Global competition, technology shifts, and an aging workforce are just a few of the variables affecting how and where employers can find the essential talent they need to be successful,” explains Marty Mordarski, Director of Research at ERC. “Now more than ever it’s critical for employers to assess their recruitment and selection strategies and how they develop and retain their best employees.”
Mordarski says that what attracts and retains top performing employees may be surprising. “Make no mistake, while it certainly doesn’t hurt, just having a competitive compensation and benefits package is no longer enough to attract the most talented people. It’s the whole package.”
“Our decade of research on top performers tells us that the best people want to work for successful, stable, socially responsible organizations with exciting and innovative cultures, training and career development opportunities, and passionate, visible leadership that involve employees in carrying out the organizational mission and vision. NorthCoast 99 assesses and highlights these critical components of a great workplace.”
The 2008 NorthCoast 99 Award program is sponsored by Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, CareerBoard.com, CareerCurve, Cinecraft Productions, Inc., FirstMerit Bank, Inside Business Magazine, Oswald Companies, Staffing Solutions Enterprises, Travelers Insurance, WVIZ/PBS and 90.3 WCPN ideastream, and Real Living Relocation Management.
