Pension Plans Not As Prevalent in Great Workplaces

Cleveland– According to ERC (Employers Resource Council), fewer NorthCoast 99 winners, organizations recognized as great workplaces in Northeast Ohio, offer pension plans than other employers in the region as well as nationally. Nearly 100% of NorthCoast 99 winners offer a defined contribution plan, like a 401(k) or 403(b) plan.

“We have observed this trend locally and nationally over the last several years,” says Marty Mordarski, Director of Research & Membership at ERC.  “And to see this more pronounced in NorthCoast 99 winners isn’t surprising.  These employers tend to be on the leading edge of workplace trends and in this case, they are outpacing local and national employers in terms of defined contribution plans, plans that more often than not include rich employer matching components as well.”
