Supervisory Series I
This series provides participants with practical skills, tools, and strategies to enhance their effectiveness as supervisors, lead employees with confidence, and execute results.
In the series, participants will gain an understanding of their role as a supervisor as well as employment law as it relates to common supervisory issues. They will also learn how to apply basic managerial and interpersonal skills including dealing with the everyday challenges of being a supervisor, communicating effectively with others, resolving workplace conflict, managing performance, and coaching.
Participants will not only learn fresh insights and ideas and practice their skills within an energizing, interactive, and supportive environment, but will also have access to a variety of job aids and resources to help them implement their new competencies in the workplace.

- Roles and responsibilities of a supervisor
- Effective and ineffective supervisory behaviors
- Balancing tasks and relationships
Module 2: Communication
- Building relationships and rapport
- Communication with others (listening, sharing viewpoint, clarifying, giving feedback)
- Non-verbal communication
- Understanding and adapting to different styles
Module 3: Conflict Resolution
- Defining and identifying conflict
- Costs and causes of conflict
- Strategies to manage and resolve conflict
- Preventing conflict
Module 4: Performance Management & Coaching
- Set performance expectations
- Use a tool that makes giving feedback easy
- Track and document performance
- Prepare for and deliver a performance review
- Use self-appraisals and learning plans
Module 5: Employment Law
- Overview of legal landscape
- Workplace discrimination and harassment
- Managing employee leaves of absence
- Employee performance issues
