Description

The purpose of this course is to introduce tax practitioners, attorneys, CFO’s, controllers, etc. to US international taxation laws. The business world is becoming a smaller place on a daily basis, which leads to new opportunities, which in turn lead to new challenges - one of which is understanding the impact of international taxation on yours or your client’s business.


The purpose of this course is to introduce you to various international tax aspects that you should be aware of if you are either doing business internationally or have clients conducting business across international borders.


This course is split into two distinct sections, US taxation of inbound transactions and outbound transactions.


Learning Objectives:

Inbound transactions:

  • Understand US taxation and withholding tax requirements of business and non-business income from US sources
  • Identify branch profits tax
  • Become familiar with US income tax treaties

Outbound transactions:

  • Explore sourcing of US income and deductions
  • Learn about Foreign tax credit
  • Identify subpart F and controlled foreign corporations
  • Introduction to “check-the-box” tax planning
  • Define domestic international sales corporation

This course qualifies for 8 CPE Credits in Ohio.



ERC Refund Policy
Pre-registration and payment is required for all ERC programs. If a guest has registered and is unable to attend the program, they will be instructed to notify ERC’s training hotline immediately at 440/947-1300, training@ercnet.org. Based on the circumstances, one of the following accommodations will be made:

  1. We will invite them to send a substitute attendee. OR
  2. We will hold and apply their program payment to another ERC training program of their interest (or a later date for this program.) OR
  3. If neither of these accommodations will work, ERC will issue the guest a refund minus 15% administrative fee.
