Description

Supervisors and Managers are the eyes and ears of your organization. Do they have the correct information they need to keep your organization legal and out of court? Supervisors make hundreds of split-second decisions each day; one bad decision could affect the entire organization. This course is designed to give Supervisors the information they need to handle these trying situations.

  1. What questions you can and cannot ask during an interview.
  2. How to respond when an employee says “can we just keep this conversation between us?”
  3. What to do when an employee says “I quit!”
  4. How to handle the employee that likes to come early and leave late.
  5. What should and should not be put into a file.
  6. When do you have to give someone time off? (FMLA, ADA, Pregnancy Leave, etc.)
  7. How to respond to a complaint of harassment and discrimination.
  8. Do I have to have a reason for terminating someone? 
  9. How to handle the employee that demands to see their personnel file.
  10. How to deliver bad news to the group. (i.e. Mandatory overtime and no more smoke breaks.)

This program has been approved for 2.75 (general) recertification credit hours toward PHR, SPHR and GPHR recertification through the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI).

This program qualifies for 3 Continuing Professional Education credits in Ohio.



ERC Refund Policy
Pre-registration and payment is required for all ERC programs. If a guest has registered and is unable to attend the program, they will be instructed to notify ERC’s training hotline immediately at 440/947-1300, training@ercnet.org. Based on the circumstances, one of the following accommodations will be made:

  1. We will invite them to send a substitute attendee. OR
  2. We will hold and apply their program payment to another ERC training program of their interest (or a later date for this program.) OR
  3. If neither of these accommodations will work, ERC will issue the guest a refund minus 15% administrative fee.
