Most Employers Plan to Maintain or Increase Staffing Levels
Cleveland (January 27, 2010) - According to the 2010 ERC Economy & HR Survey, a study conducted on 101 Northeast Ohio organizations by ERC, most employers (84%) plan to either maintain or increase staffing levels in 2010. Few responding organizations have plans to freeze existing staffing levels (7%) or reduce them (9%) this year. More manufacturers (25%) reported plans to increase staffing levels compared to non-manufacturers and non-profit organizations.

The survey results suggest that staffing trends in 2010 will likely be notably different than those in 2009. In the survey, the majority of respondents (61%) reduced staffing levels in 2009 and only 9% of employers increased staffing levels. Employers that increased staffing levels in 2009 were predominantly non-profits and non-manufacturers.
